I regularly paint plein air during the warmer days, and if you would like to tag along for a paint-out, let me know and I will add you to the list of people I email with the location I will be at. No class, just the company of fellow painters.

Classes running at my studio:

Monday afternoon 1:00 - 4:00PM

Oil Still life painting class, we explore the different possibilities of Oils and its application to start and finish a painting (Alla Prima). Each week has a new still life with its own challenges.

Tuesday afternoon 1:00 - 4:00PM

Oil landscape painting class. Weather permitting we will try to be outdoor as much as possible - painting plein air. In case of rain we will be in the studio using a photograph or sketch you made (bring your own) to paint from, we explore how to paint rather than copy a photo with paint.  Explore how to respond to the details visible in a photograph, that may or may not be necessary when painting. How do you look at your photograph or sketch from a painter's perspective, is it okay, or maybe even necessary to make alterations to make a painting work better? You can work on the same piece for a few classes or start a new one every week.

Students are required to bring the following to class:

• sketchbook or pad & pencil
• pre-stretched canvas or painting boards, no larger than 12x18” - no smaller than 8x10”
• variety of brushes for oil paints (not too soft) - flat, round, small, big...
• palette, rags, Odorless solvents
• oil paints in the following colours: Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow light (lemon yellow), Ocre, Rose Madder (Permanent Rose), Ultramarine or Prussian Blue, Cerelean Blue (Manganese blue), and Burnt Umber. You can bring other colours, but save yourself some money, buy quality paint, and learn your colours. Mixing your colours is a joy and will help to get a better understanding of what colours can do for you.

Classes in my studio are $25.00 per class or $175 for a group of 8 classes. (Missed classes can be tagged on at the back, but need to be taken within three months). They are suitable for beginners and advanced students, and for those 14 years or older.

If you want to sign up for either of these classes, or be put on the email list for the paint-outs during the summer, please send me an email at jeanette@obbink.ca

I am regularly teaching 1 day workshops at Glenhyrst in Brantford, at the Artist Worshop Norfolk County in Simcoe and the Brush and Palette Club in London. Feel free to email me for more information.
